“I am 13 and I always make sure to fast the whole month, but few days back my Blood Pressure went really low and my mom didn’t let me keep fasts for a few days,” says Jannat, a 9th standard student, while biting her tongue under the teeth.

“But for me Ramadan is more about charity and giving alms. Whatever money I have, I try to give them all to the needy, be it beggars on the roadside or the “musafirs” that knock our door and if I am short of money, I give them my clothes or another thing they might be in need of,” says Jannat who in front of me gave a 100 rupee note to a needy woman. “Also, all of this money is mine, I save my Eidi and the money I get from my relatives as gifts.”
