Khan who served the INC from 32 years, in his resignation mentioned that the two main reasons that have disappointed him and due to which he has resigned are the appointment of Shaik Abdullah Sohail as the Chairman of the Minorities Commission who Khan feels has no social standing and has a shady background. And the other reason is appointment of working presidents from the Reddy, SC, Kamma and BC communities, but none from the Muslim community.

He expressed sorrow over the fact the congress party has conveniently side lined Muslims even though they are 15-18% . Only the votes of the Muslims matter to the INC but not their interests. The INC does not wish to empower the Muslims, he said in his letter addressed to Rahul Gandhi.

The other reasons he cited apart from injustice to Muslims and Christians in allotment of seats is that the congress party has failed to keep its promises of social equitable justice and giving provenience to land grabbers, criminals and paratroopers over genuine loyal party workers.    Khan has also mentioned that the general secretary and Incharge Mr. Kunthia has allegedly indulged in corruption in distribution of party tickets.

In the resignation letter, Khan also reminded Rahul Gandhi about his father who was a loyal congressman while he also began his career in the youth wing of the party having served in various positions in the last 32 years.

Abid Rasool Khan alleged that although Rahul Gandhi is honest and secular the decision makers the ones who control the party are the Sanghis. And Rahul Gandhi is fully aware of this.

His resignation at this juncture has come as a hard blow to the congress party in Telangana State as the congress party was seen as the main rival and competitor to the TRS in the elections next month on 7th of December.
