However, relief under this law has not been swift, say lawyers and women. By IANS, New Delhi : The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Friday directed the Haryana government to pay Rs.300,000 to a 40-year-old woman who was raped by two Haryana policemen two years ago. Muslim women represented half of the world's Muslim population and therefore their issues were societal and serious, she said in an interview with Bernama here Tuesday.

One arrested for molesting woman in hospital

By IANS, New Delhi : One man was arrested for allegedly molesting a woman Sunday at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital here, the police said. An altercation broke out between the woman, who had come for her son's treatment, and a worker in hospital's canteen over the rate of eatables she had bought. “One person was arrested on the basis of complaint lodged by the woman,” the police said.

NCW unhappy with Colors on female foeticide serial

By IANS, New Delhi : The National Commission for Women (NCW) Friday said it was unhappy with Colors channel's reply to its notice over portraying women in a poor light in the serial "Na Aana Is Des Laado". "We have received the response to our notice from Colors TV and I went through it but am not satisfied with what they had to say. We will take further action in the matter," NCW chairperson Girja Vyas told IANS. "Na Aana Is Des Laado" is aired on Colors on weekdays and deals with the issue of female foeticide.

Woman gangraped in a moving car in Noida
