New Delhi : Two people were arrested here on the charge of possessing 4.5 kg of pure marijuana worth Rs.1.4 million, police said Saturday.
Nafis, 48, and his accomplice Arshad, 24, were nabbed Friday evening from Kardampuri area in northeast Delhi. Police seized the contraband from them.
The duo was arrested after police received information that they would be coming to the city from Uttar Pradesh to sell marijuana.
"During investigations the accused revealed that poverty forced them to enter the narcotic trade," Deputy commissioner of Police Jaspal Singh said.
