Mumbai : Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist captured after the Mumbai attacks, was Monday remanded to police custody till Feb 13 in connection with the hijack of a fishing trawler and killing of its crew members.

Additional Metropolitan Magistrate N.N. Shreemangale visited the Crime Branch lock-up in the Mumbai Police Commissionerate for the hearing. Additional public prosecutor E.B. Dhumal was also present.

After leaving Karachi in a ship, the 10 terrorists had hijacked an Indian fishing vessel, Kuber, off the Gujarat coast.

They sailed in the vessel and killed the crew members on board before casting off around four nautical miles off south Mumbai on Nov 25, 2008. From there they landed near Colaba in a motorised rubber dingy.

Later that evening, they attacked 13 locations in Mumbai, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Hotel Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, and Hotel Trident-Oberoi, which finally left over 180 dead and more than 300 injured.

Kasab was the only terrorist nabbed alive as all his associates were killed
in a marathon 60-hour gun battle with the combined security forces.

Mumbai Police have booked Kasab in 12 cases pertaining to the terror attacks.
