Maharashtra gov. allows 50% minority quota in minority educational institutions

New Delhi: In the ongoing budget session of Marashtra assembly, state education minister Radha Krishna Patil announced, “Minority educational institutions of the state shall be allowed to admit 50% minority students on their own accord and rest 50% will be taken from general candidates on the basis of merit.”

The minister informed that he has instructed all minority institutions to complete all formalities regarding minority students’ admission within seven days from the date of publication of high school results and reserve remaining seats for general students. He was clarifying government policy during a debate on ‘Online Admissions’.

“The facilities allowed by the government are according to the Supreme Court directive in this regard” told Mr. Patil.
