Obama to host Indian PM in November in official state visit

Washington : U.S. President Barack Obama will receive at the White House in November India’s Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singhfor during an official visit, it was announced here late Friday.

White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs said in a statement that Obama will be hosting Dr. Singh on November 24.

He indicated that the visit will “highlight the strong and growing strategic partnership between the United States and India, and the friendship between the American and Indian peoples.” He added that the two leaders are also expected to discuss “a range of global, regional, and bilateral issues of shared interest and common concern.” Gibbs noted that the two leaders will also “likely discuss the strategic dialogue that was launched in July and review progress made in the dialogue.” “President and Mrs. Obama will also host Prime Minister Singh and Mrs. Kaur for an official state dinner on the night of November 24,” he said.
