Twenty20: Windies lose to Bangaldesh, crash out

Johannesburg : The West Indies became the first team to crash out of the Twenty20 World Championship cricket Thursday when they surprisingly lost to Bangladesh by six wickets here.

Shakib-al-Hasan took four wickets, while Aftab Ahmed scored an unbeaten 62 and captain Mohammed Ashraful made 61 to help Bangladesh register the win with two overs to spare at New Wanderers Stadium here.

Ashraful was adjudged the Man of the Match.

For the West Indies, opener Devon Smith was the top scorer with 51 (52 balls, 6x4s) while Shivnarine Chanderpaul chipped in with 37 (31 balls, 3x4s, 2x6s) and Dwayne Smith hammered seven-ball 29 (1×4, 4x6s).

Shakib wrecked the West Indies innings with incisive bowling. He finished with excellent figures of 4-0-34-4.
