An ordinance in this regard was issued Monday by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of UAE, which aims to regulate private sector services in this category.

The regulation will contribute to the development of services for disabled people and their effective integration into the society, a statement from the ministry of social affairs said.

The ordinance also defined the goals to be achieved by NGos including social and psychological rehabilitation, in addition to providing support services such as nursing, physiotherapy and speech therapy.

It also asked NGOs to provide a detailed outline of their plans and programmes of rehabilitation. This should be presented to the ministry along with periodic reports about their functioning and activities.
