Australia beat Bangladesh in World Twenty20

Barbados : Australia defeated Bangladesh by 27 runs in the last Group A match of the World Twenty20 here.

Set to chase 142, Bangladesh were all out for 114 in 18.4 overs. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer with 28 runs while Mushfiqur Rahim contributed 24.

Pacer Dirk Nannes took four wickets while David Hussey and Steven Smith took two wickets each.

Earlier, Michael Hussey (47 not out) and Steven Smith (27) pulled Australia out of trouble after they were reduced to six for 65.

Hussey’s 29-ball knock included four fours and one six, while Smith struck two sixes. The two added 74 runs for the seventh wicket.

For Bangladesh, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan got two wickets each.
