Pakistan for OIC meeting on Israeli attack

Islamabad : Pakistan has requested Secretary General of OIC to convene emergency meeting of OIC Permanent Representatives with a view to evolving an effective response to Israeli attack on peace flotilla, the Foreign Ministry said Monday.

This matter has also been taken up by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative in UN Geneva at the OIC Group and at the Human Rights Council, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Intense diplomatic efforts are being made to ascertain the whereabouts and safety and security of Pakistani nationals on board at Peace flotilla, he said in a statement.

Senior Pakistani TV anchor Syed Talat Hussain, a TV producer Mr. Raza Mahmood Agha and President Khubaib Foundation Islamabad, Mr. Nadeem Ahmad Khan are among the people on board at Peace Flotilla.

“Constant contact is being maintained with friendly states. The assistance of UN Secretary General and the International Committee of Red Cross has also been sought,” the spokesman said.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik said Pakistanis are not included in the list of those killed and injured.
