Minority Ministry to launch 4 new schemes

New Delhi: The Ministry of Minority Affairs will be implementing four new schemes for the welfare of Minorities during the current financial year 2010-11. They include strengthening of State Waqf Boards and Interest subsidy on educational loans for overseas studies for minority students.

A budgetary provision of Rs. 11 crore has been made in the budget of 2010-11 for the new schemes. Other two schemes are Promotional activities for Linguistic Minorities and scheme for containing population decline of small minority community.

With this new clutch of schemes, the total number of schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs will soar to 16. Till last financial the number was 12. Of the four new schemes to be launched this financial, three will be Central Sector Schemes and one, viz. strengthening of the State Waqf Boards will be implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
