“Governor has ordered departmental actions against chief engineer Umesh Kumar Sinha, executive engineer Arjun Prasad and others for irregularities found in remodeling and construction work of Kanchi Weer irrigation project,” the statement said.

The proceedings will be monitored by Nitin Kulkarni, a senior official of the state human resource development (HRD) department.

The governor has also given approval to initiate department action against eight officers including two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers – Alok Goyal and Bhagwan Prasad – in the last eleven days – after the state came under president’s rule.

Goyal, posted as additional secretary in the institutional finance and programme implementation department, and Prasad, the managing director of Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDC), were both suspended earlier this week.
