Beware of anti-terror moves turning against itself: Muslim leaders

By TwoCircles.net Staff Correspondent,

Thiruvananthapuram: Care should be taken to ensure that the anti-terror moves do not turn in favour of terrorists themselves, said leaders of Muslim organizations in a press conference. The attack on the professor is mean and cruel. The individuals and groups who worked behind it have insulted Islam and the Kerala society. The society should alienate them. Muslim community will provide boundless support for the same, the leaders said.

The media are spreading news that several unfavourable incidents in the state had connections with the ISI and the Lashkar e Toiba. However, these allegations have never been proved. Such propaganda centred at a particular community will only help grow communal divide and communalism as well as creating a sense of insecurity among Muslims. This will be helpful to communal powers as well as the isolated extremists in the community.

If anybody has connections with the ISI and the Lashkar e Toiba, it should be disclosed and the culprits should be shown to the community. Spreading wrong propaganda about the leaflets and CDs caught in raids even before checking their contents will have more negative effect than any positive ones.

The leaders informed that they had submitted memoranda to the Chief Minister, Home Minister, Opposition Leader, CPI (M) state general secretary and the KPCCC President demanding to take measures to put an end to the creation of confusion in the society. KT Jaleel, PTA Raheem and Adv PMA Salam (MLAs), Thodiyur Muhammed Kunhu Moulvi (Dakshin Kerala Muslim Jamat Federation), Hameed Vanimel and M Mehabub (Jamat e Islami), Gafoor Puthuppadi (PDP), Prof POJ Labba (MES), TK Abdul Kareem and Prof A Hameed (MSS) were in the team that submitted the memoranda, the leaders said.

Thodiyur Muhammed Kunhu Moulvi, Hameed Vanimel, M Mehabub and Gafoor Puthuppadi were present at the press conference.
