At least 50 bodies had been found in clandestine graves discovered by army soldiers in the town of Benito Juarez, near the northern industrial city of Monterrey, they said Saturday.

Most of the victims were males between 20 and 50 years of age with tattoos on their bodies.

Several bodies have not yet begun to decompose, leading to the conclusion that they were slain in the last few days, an official said..

Forensic experts at the Nuevo Leon AG’s office have been working since Thursday with heavy machinery to find human remains at the lonely spot, located alongside a country road near the Las Aguilas neighborhood east of Monterrey, capital of Nuevo Leon state.

In Nuevo Leon, the violence attributed to organised crime has left about 200 people missing in the last three years.
