Judgment reserved by Lucknow HC in Babri Masjid Case, will be delivered after September 15

Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court reserved its verdict in the Ramjanambhoomi-Babri Masjid title issue on Monday. The special full bench comprising Justice SU Khan, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice Dhramveer Sharma heard the counsels of both the parties besides video footage late in the evening before reserving their verdict. The court also stated that the judgment will be delivered any day after September 15.

The hearing for Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit started in the morning and continued till late in the evening of Monday. Earlier the arguments of both the parties in a leading petition titled Sunni Central Waqf Board Vs Gopal Singh Visharad had concluded on July 6.

Besides this three other petitions were still pending in the High Court in which arguments were completed on Monday. The three petitions are namely Bhagwan Sri Ram Virajman and others Vs. Rajendra Singh. The second being Nirmohi Akhara Vs. Babu Priya Dutt and others and the third petition being of Gopal Singh Vishrad Vs. Zahoor Ahmed. Hearing for these three cases also concluded before the special full bench which reserved its verdict on Monday evening.

To recall, the litigation of the title issue is pending in the High Court since 1989. Before it a title suit was pending before the civil court in Faizabad district since 1950. Later the suit was transferred before the District Judge, Faizabad. However, after the demolition of the structure and sensing the sensititivity and importance, as per the direction of the Supreme Court the case was transferred to the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court. A special full bench was constituted to hear the Ram Janam Bhoomi-Babri Masjid case.
