Boy killed, curfew in Kashmir

Srinagar: The paramilitary forces open fire on public who was coming out from a mosque after (Fajr) dawn prayers at Trehgam, 10 kms from Kupwara district this morning in which teenager was killed and a 47-year old woman get injured.

According to eyewitnesses, as people were coming out of a mosque after offering (Nimaz-e-Fajr) dawn prayers at Mirpora in Trehgam, they were faced by CRPF personnel on the grounds that undeclared curfew was in force in the area. This led to an argument between the worshippers and CRPF, upon which the latter opened fire and killed a 10th class student.

The slain boy of has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Zargar, S/O Gulam Hassan Zargar, of Trehgam and the 47-year old injured woman identified as Jana Begum.

Curfew is in place in Kupwara and Handwara towns as well. After the boy’s killing, tension has gripped the entire area and people are trying to defy curfew.

Meanwhile, routine curfew, restrictions and protest shutdown in Kashmir on Friday continue in Kashmir valley.

CRPF and police troops have been deployed in strength to foil protest Marches planned for the day.

A senior police officer told Agence India Press that, curfew and restrictions would remain in force for the day in most parts of the Valley to maintain law and orders.
