Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party ruled Madhya Pradesh Government’s decision to do away with the board examinations for Std Vth has come under strong criticism.
The Madhya Pradesh Tribal Council office-bearers on Monday held the State Government’s decision as a conspiracy to keep the poor, Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) students illiterate. They demanded the Government review its decision and restore board status to the fifth standard examinations.
Former president of State Tribal Commission, MP and Provincial president Prabha Bisey; general secretary and advocate BL Karney and former Agricultural Minister Surendra Choudhury and former deputy president of Gwalior Development Authority Gopilal Bharatiya have urged the Chief Minister not to abolish the board exam for fifth standard.
According to the members of the council, the move is an attempt to render students belonging to Scheduled Tribes and other backward classes illiterate.
The Council members in fact suggested the government to take effective measures to improve the standards of education in the State than resorting to such an act. They asserted that the Government should lay emphasis on providing basic infrastructure to schools in the State. ([email protected])
