Armed private guards will provide security at AMU

400 private security guards, gadgets like CCTV, and various other security measures at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will cost about 10 crores.

Security guards will be equipped with guns and wireless sets. A network of security cameras will monitor sensitive spots on the campus. There will be four Quick Response Teams that will work around the clock. Quick Response Teams will include a security supervisor and guard appointed by the university administration and four private armed security men.

The amount of 10 crores has been approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and work to establish high security has begun. A committee under the chairmanship of Proctor Prof. M. A. Siddiqui has been setup which is overseeing all security related arrangements. Committee’s other members are Registrar Prof. V. K. Abdul Jalil, Finance Officer S.A.H. Kazmi, Prof. Arif Suhail, and OSD Prof. Javed Musarrat.

According to the university sources, all security arrangements will be complete in 2-3 months.
