Delhi airport’s steps to help passengers in winter

New Delhi : The following are the arrangements announced to carry out smooth operations during fog next month.

— Low cost carriers (LCC) to provide food, snacks if a flight is delayed for two hours due to fog.

— At least 60 customer service staff officials pressed into action round the clock to help with passenger queries.

— Additional LCD screens to be installed at all airport terminals, updating passengers on the take-off time of their flights and also details of how long it may be stuck hovering over the landing strip.

— An increased number of payphones, along with 25 coin-operated booths installed.

— Pamphlets detailing flight related information, airlines helpline numbers, customer care numbers and fog information will be provided to the passengers.

— Passengers have been advised to leave their mobile phone numbers with airlines, which will send information related to flight delays, if any, and departure to passengers.

— Inside the terminals additional arrangements have been made to provide refreshment, food and beverages to passengers. These additional counters will supplement numerous F&B outlets.

— Additional seating arrangements for nearly 600 passengers have been made at the terminal 1B.

— Increase in CAT III lighting aircraft bays to 55 from 25 last year.

— New rapid exit taxiways added along with additional aircraft.

— Airlines asked to roster pilots trained for CAT III system.

— The meteorological department will also update its website with latest fog updates.
