South Africa Calls for Saving

By Prensa Latina

Johannesburg : South African government called mining enterprises to conserve energy to avoid a crisis that could plunge the country into recession.

Since late January that African southern nation is suffering many black outs derived from generation incapacity of ESKOM Company in charge of providing this service.

In the opinion of the minister of Mining and Energy Buyelwa Sonjica, the problem is that there is an imbalance between economic growth and power production.

Sonjica noted that both elements are not at par and now you can see the results owing to a lack of precaution.

As consequence of shortage of electricity some of the main gold and platinum’s mines brought activities to a halt for several days.

ESKOM’s executive promised they will provide up to 90 percent of its generation capacity, but even that is not enough, said the minister of this branch, explaining “if we save there will be more generation capacity.”
