Jaipur : A five-month-old female foetus was found dumped in a plastic bag and thrown on the roadside in a Rajasthan village, the police said Tuesday.
The foetus was found Monday by a passer-by in a village in Sikar district, over 150 km from here. The police said they have launched a probe into the matter.
“We were informed of foul smell coming from a plastic bag along the road side. After a search we found a female foetus in the bag. We have launched an enquiry into it,” a police official told IANS.
An increasing number of female foeticides have been reported from Rajasthan. As per the 2001 census, the sex ratio in the state stands poorly at 922 females per 1,000 males.
