Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh government decision to change the name of the Arabic Persian Madrasa Board as Madrasa Shiksha Parishad has not gone down well with Muslims. They look at the decision with suspicion. Their suspicion got stronger with the state education department decision to provide forms for Arabic and Persian examinations this year in Hindi.

To express concern over the decision, a meeting was held in Maharjganj. Addressing the gathering, Maulana Qari Mohammad Tayyab Qasimi, district convenor of the Urdu Padhao Tehrik, expressed his grief over the tendency of the government agencies to mentally harass the biggest minority of the country on one pretext or the other. He also expressed concern over attempts to tarnish the image of madrasas by terming them as havens of terrorism. The speakers condemned the decision to change the name of Arabic Persian Madrasa Board.
