Koba Davitashvili, one of the leaders of the unified opposition front, said it is a people’s protest against unlawful authorities, and warned the civil disobedience declared against the government will continue until conditions for fair parliamentary elections are guaranteed.

“Sooner than later, authorities will be compelled to accept our demands,” he stressed.

The mobilization towards the capital downtown started on Rustaveli avenue, with several sources speaking of thousands of demonstrators gathered at the open area near Parliament.

The opposition National Council announced they will stay overnight in improvised tents waiting for a successful answer to their demands, which include the exclusion of President Saakashvili from the parliamentary elections and release of political prisoners.
