Eight killed as jeep falls into ravine in Pakistan

Islamabad : At least eight people have been killed and two injured when a passenger jeep skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in northwest Pakistan, media reports said Saturday.

The jeep was on its way from Sunghar to Balakot Friday when it fell into a deep ravine near Kachi Gali in North West Frontier Province. Twelve passengers were travelling in the jeep at the time of the accident.

Seven passengers died on the spot and three were injured. One of the injured later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, the News Network International news agency quoted police officials as saying.

The police have registered a case and started investigation.
