Choi, Wi joint seventh as Mickelson leads Northern Trust golf

Pacific Palisades (US) : Korea’s Charlie Wi and K J Choi both have posted an even-par 71 to share the seventh place, seven strokes behind leader Phil Mickelson of the US at the end of the second round of Northern Trust Open here.

Wi, winner of the 2006 Maybank Malaysian Open, Saturday started his round with a disappointing front nine after recording three costly bogeys. The Korean, however got his game under control on the back nine with two birdies and an eagle to finish on a 209 total.

Fellow compatriot, Choi, who started the day in ninth place, moved up two places to set himself on target for his second win on the US PGA Tour this year since his maiden triumph at the Sony Open in Hawaii in January.

American Kevin Na, meanwhile, slipped to 54th place after a round of 74 for a total of 215.

India-born Swede Daniel Chopra had missed the halfway cut. The cut on the second round came at three-over 145 and Chopra had rounds of 73 and 74 for a five-over 147 total.
