Pakistan: Lavish campaigning; ECP to punish code voilators

Islamabad : Punitive action would be taken against the candidates who spent lavishly and beyond ceiling on their election campaign, Election Commissioner Punjab Ayaz Ahmed Khan said Friday.

Talking to Express News he said according to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rules a National Assembly aspirant can spend only Rs 1.5 million on his campaign.

While a provincial assembly candidate can spend Rs 1 million on his campaign. He urged the people to submit applications along with proof. ECP will take strict action against the code violators.
