“Instead of consulting the other riparian state of Tamil Nadu, the Kerala government has declared its harmful intentions. This act is equivalent to functioning like a ‘independent’ state beyond the borders of the union of India,” Ramadoss told reporters here.

Answering a question, the PMK leader said his party would fight the move “tooth and nail.”

The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)- led Left Front government in Kerala Tuesday took the decision to build a new dam in place of the 113-year-old present dam. The Kerala government said the old dam presents a grave danger to the people living in the surrounding areas.

The PMK is part of the ruling United Progressive Alliance at New Delhi supported from outside by the Left Front.
