Assembly building in Indias northeastern state damaged in rebel attack

New Delhi : The assembly building in Imphal in Indias Northeastern state of Manipur was damaged Saturday when insurgents blasted a bomb there.

No one was, however, injured in the attack, news agency Indo Asian News Service reported, quoting a police official of Manipur.

“There were no casualties. Some partial damage to the building was caused by the blast,” the official said.

Identity of the rebel group is being ascertained by the police, who have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.

Manipur, bordering Myanmar, is home to more than 20 big or small insurgent groups.
