Jasbir Singh, 25, was murdered just hours after his sister’s wedding and a day before his own wedding in an apparent contract killing carried out at the behest of a brother-sister duo, Gursewak Singh and Amanpal Kaur, based in Canada.

Jasbir’s cousin Harpreet was also killed after contract killers pumped several bullets into them.

The police are initiating the process to get the brother-sister duo extradited from Canada.

The Moga police Wednesday arrested Ashwini, a policeman with the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), and Punjab Singh Gill and his wife. While Ashwini has been charged of firing and killing Jasbir, Gill and his wife have been accused of conspiracy.

Moga district police chief Ashok Baath said that the police was trying to nab another accused, Amit, for his role in the crime.

Jasbir was murdered after he refused to wed his girlfriend Amanpal Kaur in Canada and came to India to marry another girl.

Gursewak, Amanpal’s brother, was upset that Jasbir was getting married to someone else and conspired to get him eliminated in India.
