Syria evaluates president Assad’s visit to Iran ‘positive’

Damascus : Syria evaluated president Bashar al-Assad recent visit to Iran ‘positive’.

In a meeting of National Progressive Front (NPF) central leadership (governing coalition party in Syria) it was said that during the visit the Iranian and Syrian senior officials have discussed political situation in international, regional and Arabian levels.

In a statement issued by Syrian NPF, the results of President Assad’s visits to Iran and France were evaluated ‘positive’ which indicated the correctness of Damascus political policy.

Referring to the internal disputes in Palestine, the statement underlined the necessity of acceleration of holding talks to strengthen national unity among Palestinians.

Syrian Vice-President Farouq al-Shara also presented a report to the meeting concerning political issues in the region.

President Bashar al-Assad in his sixth visit to Tehran since taking office in the year 2000, met with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and discussed bilateral ties and international and regional issues with them.
