Algeria calls for medical cooperation with Iran

Tehran : Algerian Minister of Health Said Barkat has called for medical cooperation with Iran.

He said that his country is keen to cooperate with Iran in production of medicines as well as medical and paramedical training.

In a meeting Monday with Iranian Minister of Health Kamran Baqeri Lankarani, Barkat hoped that Algeria would take advantage of Iran’s experience in pharmaceutical production, generic medicines production in particular.

Outlining Iran’s successes in the health sector, Baqeri Lankarani said that 95 per cent of Iran’s needs for medicines are met from domestic sources.

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, heading a high-ranking economic and political delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday on a two-day state visit.

Five Algerian ministers are accompanying the president including the country’s health minister.
