Accused must be punished: Rizwanur’s family after court ruling
Kolkata : Muslim youth Rizwanur Rehman's family is happy with the Calcutta High Court ruling Thursday, blaming industrialist Ashok Todi and five others for his suicide last year, but says it will not be satisfied until the accused are punished.
"I am happy. But until the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) files the chargesheet against the Todis and four police officers and they are punished for the crime, I will not be satisfied," Rehman's brother Rukbanur said.

Ahmedabad : In a major development the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate rejected Thursday the state government's plea for brain mapping and narco analysis tests of six police officers, including three senior IPS officers, who have been arrested in the Sohrabuddin staged encounter case.
The Central Investigation Department (CID) Crime had put up an application for the test of the arrested cops on the ground that much more information was needed as these police officers had not revealed some very important facts.

Mumbai : Anti-noise crusader Sumaira Abdulali has supported Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi's call for restricting the use of loudspeakers during Muslim prayers, saying that curbing noise pollution went beyond religious lines.
Sumaira, whose Awaaz Foundation actively campaigns against noise pollution, said Joshi's call for restrictions on loudspeakers in mosques on the lines of the Ganpati festival was a "positive step" towards making Mumbai less noisy.

Gaza City : Hamas leader Ismail Haniya has outlined a "basis" for reconciliation after the Islamic movement seized control of the Gaza Strip and kicked out senior leaders from rival Fatah.
Haniya's vision was mainly based on restructuring the security services - often loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah - plus respecting signed Hamas-Fatah deals and staging a general national reconciliation.

Washington : A US official said on Friday that the United States will not support a Lebanese president with ties to terrorist groups or to powers outside Lebanon in the upcoming election next September.
