Pakistan: Zardari, Gilani hold meeting on power shortage

Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani held meetings on the shortage of electricity in the country at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.
The President and the Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure uniform tariff structure and rates for respective categories, across the country with immediate effect.
The meeting directed the KESC management to issue new bills while PSO was given directions to ensure unhindered oil supply to all Gencos as per their requirements from Monday.
The meeting also decided that uninterrupted gas supply to the power sector shall be ensured.
Federal Minister for Water and Power, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf briefed the President and the Prime Minister about the power situation in the country.
Advisor to PM on Finance, Shaukat Tareen, Special Assistant to PM on Economic Affairs, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Chairman NRB, Secretary Finance and Secretary Petroleum were also present during the meeting.
