Peace party supremo Dr. Ayub “attacked”

Lucknow: Peace Party supremo Dr Mohd Ayub was allegedly attacked while he was going back from Delhi to Gorakhpur after launching his party in Delhi. Dr Ayub received fractures in his right leg and spinal cord. A case of accident has been registered at Ayodhya police station.
Ayub while returning after his party’s maiden appearance in New Delhi on Tuesday had an unfortunate accident when his SUV collided on Saryu River Bridge in Faizabad. The collision was so severe that Ayub’s vehicle skidded to quite some distance. A kiosk owner Guddu on the road side also received injuries and is reported to be serious.
Ayub was traveling with two SUV when a Scorpio hit his vehicle from side forcing the driver to shift towards railing of the bridge. Party’s spokesperson, MJ Khan claimed that the vehicle was following them from Lucknow. He was referred to Faizabad district hospital from where he was shifted to Gorakhpur during night. Medical reports suggest that it may take couple months for him to recover. Several of his party activists also reached the scene after hearing about the accident.
Dr Ayub while talking to newsmen in Gorakhpur claimed that he had written several letters to the government for security as he has apprehension for his life. “Various political parties are worried about the growing influence of Peace Party. They are after my life. It was a plan to eliminate me. They have given security to mafias but not to me who is raising the issues of Muslims and weaker sections,” he said.
Meanwhile, former DGP and Peace Party leader Yashpal Singh too reached the scene of accident. He also had words with the Investigating Officer at Ayodhya police post. Police however denied any reports of attack and has registered a case of accident only.
The family members of shopkeeper Guddu who was also injured in the accident also lodged a case of accident at the police station. Guddu is serious and has been referred to Lucknow for treatment.
On the other hand, Subhasini Ali Member, Central Committee, CPI (M) has condemned the attack on Dr. Ayub. “I would like to condemn the murderous attack on Dr. Ayub founder-leader of the Peace Party. While the perpetrators of the crime and the reasons for it have not yet been revealed, the coming Vidhan Sabha elections in UP are probably the context,” she said.
She demanded from the government of UP that “it must immediately bring the culprits to book and ensure Dr. Ayubs safety and security.”
