Women’s panchayat in Varanasi

Varanasi, UP: A Mahila Panchayat (women’s assembly) was organised by U.P Khudai Khidmatgar team Nargis bahan and Faisal Khan from central team.

The evaluation process included a wide discussion of one year work/performance of the last panchayat. Some other vital issues in discussion were:

1. Female Foeticide.
2. Domestic violence
3. The participation of women in social schemes as MNREGA and likewise.
4. Economic empowerment

Qamar Jahan, Khudai Khidmatgar and her team is working on MNREGA and women discrimination. She has formed four groups of village women who are applying various methods to raise awareness among the fellow women of their village by the way of nukkad natak, presentation by village women on MNREGA corruption etc.
