AMU faculty suspended over ‘abusive’ posts against VC on FB

Aligarh: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, on the authorization of the Executive Council in its special meeting held on July 22, 2014, has placed Dr. Syed Ali Nadeem Rezavi, Associate Professor, Department of History under suspension with immediate effect, pending enquiry.
Dr. Rezavi has been suspended in view of a prima facie case of “gross misconduct” on his part and a disciplinary proceeding contemplated against him for posting slanderous comments against the Vice Chancellor in an inappropriate language on a social site, Facebook, few days back. He shall be paid a subsistence allowance during the period of his suspension as per rules of the University.
The University has further ordered that during the period of the order remaining in force, Dr. Ali Nadeem Rezavi will not leave Aligarh without obtaining a prior permission of the Vice Chancellor.
On Tuesday the Executive Committee had condemned the FB post by Dr Rezavi and authorized the VC to take appropriate decision on the matter.
