UAE Red Crescent delegation arrives in Kerala
Calicut, Jan 19(WAM): A delegation from the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) arrived here today on a humanitarian tour, during which it will inaugurate a number of projects RCA has financed in the southern Indian state.
Director of the Relief and Emergency department at RCA and the Head of the delegation, Abdullah Ali Al Housni said that the Emirates Housing Complex, which RCA built in the port city of Calicut in north Kerala to give shelter and care for Kashmiri orphans, will be one among the projects the delegation will commission during the visit.
The project to build the orphanage to give shelter to hundreds of boys and girls orphaned in the deadly clashes in the North Indian state of Kashmir was implemented as per directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister and chairman of RCA.
Al Housni said that the delegation will also inspect during the tour, a number of other humanitarian projects like mosques, sweet water wells, healthcare centres and schools, which RCA has financed in various parts of India. He added that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces have given directives for giving humanitarian help and support to the needy people in India in an effort to alleviate their sufferings.
The delegation will also conduct a fact finding tour to asses the needs of people in various parts of India, in preparation for implementing other humanitarian projects.
