Kenyan national arrested with heroin at Delhi airport

New Delhi : A Kenyan national was arrested from the domestic airport here Saturday for allegedly trying to smuggle out heroin worth Rs.1 million in the international market to Bangalore, officials said.

Kathenge Raphael Manyoki was arrested at around 4.20 p.m. during a regular frisking conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is responsible for maintaining security at the airport.

The agency claimed to have recovered 950 gm of heroin tied to his calf and leg muscle.

“Manyoki had come to board a flight to Bangalore and during checking conducted by our officials, he was arrested with the heroin,” said Vertul Singh, a CISF spokesman.

Manyoki was later handed over to Delhi Police, which is presently interrogating him.

On Friday, a Ugandan woman was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle out to Beijing 2.6 kg of heroin worth Rs.3 million in the international market.
