New Delhi : Genpact, Transworks and IBM Daksh have been adjudged the top three business process outsourcing (BPO) firms in terms of revenue in 2006-07, according to a survey by a leading IT magazine.

The survey by Dataquest has taken into account India-headquartered companies as well as those that had their first delivery centre in India and all companies have been ranked on the basis of their BPO services exports.

Genpact grabbed the number one position with revenues of Rs.22.2 billion, followed by Transworks (Rs.15.1 billion) and IBM Daksh (Rs.12.6 billion), Dataquest said in a statement.

They are followed by TCS, Cambridge Solutions, WNS, Wipro and Convergys among others.

The survey noted that in the financial year under review, five Indian BPO firms have got themselves listed in stock markets abroad – a trend pioneered by WNS, which started trading on the New York Stock Exchange in July 2006.

This was followed by EXL Service that got listed on the Nasdaq in October 2006 and while Genpact debuted on the NYSE in August 2007.

Highlighting the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) as the next big potential area, the survey shows how more and more companies have entered the space during 2006-07 through a mix of organic and inorganic means.
