Shimla : Moderate to heavy rains lashed Himachal Pradesh Monday bringing life to a standstill at many places while also reducing temperatures.
Along with rain, thick fog enveloped hills of the state, reducing visibility considerably.
At many places traffic was forced to move at a snail’s pace, while it came to a standstill at some points as several link roads were blocked due to landslides triggered by heavy rains in the 12 hours to Monday afternoon.
Dharamsala town, 280 km from here in the Kangra valley, recorded the heaviest rainfall Monday at 123 mm.
The rains also cooled the state with Shimla recording a maximum temperature of 18.5 Celsius forcing many to pull out their woollens in the mild chill.
About a week ago the state had witnessed another spell of heavy rain and a cloudburst had swept many houses, killing some 52 people on Aug 14.
