Baghdad : Gunmen shot dead seven members of a family, including two women and two girl children, near a town south of the Iraqi capital Tuesday, local police said.
“Gunmen stormed a house in the morning and killed seven members of Khair Allah al-Janabi Sunni family in the Mwelha village near the town of Iskandriyah,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. Two women were also wounded in the attack, police said.
Iskandriyah, some 50 km south of Baghdad, along with several large towns in the Babil province including Yousifiyah, Mahmoudiyah, Musayyib and Latifiyah, are parts of an area known as the “Triangle of Death” which is the hot bed of sectarian conflict between Sunnis and Shias.
