Islamabad : Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Salim Saifullah Khan has dispelled the impression that there is any clash between the Pakistani government and religious institutions.
Speaking at the prize distribution ceremony at Madrassah ‘Mehdatul Darasat-e-Islamia’ here on Friday he said that government would fully cooperate with religious institutions.
He said that government was seriously working on a policy to streamline the religious seminaries by providing stipends and financial support to students of these Madrassahs.
The minister urged administration of the religion institution to provide both religious and modern education to their students to enable them to lead a honourable life and contribute in uplift the country.
The minister said that during the creation of Pakistan there were a few Madrassahs in the country but now their number has increased to 17,000.
Salim Saifullah Khan praised the services of Maulana Asad Ullah Khan, Mohtamim of the Madrassah for providing both islamic and modern education to hundreds of students.
Religion Madrassahs are the biggest NGOs providing free education to students, he added.
The Minister said that religious institutions should play active role in promoting harmony among different sects and building trust and confidence among them.
Mohtamim of the Madrassah, Maulana Asad Ullah Khan briefed the minister about performance of the institution.
The Minister assured full support of the federal government to the institution. Later the minister distributed prizes among the position holders of the Madrassah.
