Islamabad : At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and another three injured in a suicide car blast in the country’s troubled tribal region Friday, the army said.
A suicide bomber exploded his vehicle near a military convoy in North Waziristan, killing two soldiers and injuring three, army spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad told television channels.
Arshad said the suicide attack was carried out near a check post near Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan.
The injured soldiers were in critical condition. Some local television channels put the death toll of troops at four.
A blast of improvised device near another security check post also injured three paramilitary soldiers in North Waziristan, the spokesman said.
Arshad said the security forces launched counter operation after the attacks but he did not give further details.
Attacks on security forces have increased after the local armed tribals scrapped a peace deal with the government in July.
