Riyadh : Foreign ministers of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will hold their 104th meeting in Jeddah city, Saudi Arabia, next Saturday under chairmanship of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal.

GCC Secretary General Abdulrahman Al-Attiyah said in a statement on Sunday that current regional developments required such a meeting among the GCC ministers, adding that the discussions during the planned meeting would deal with various issues, namely the Iranian occupation of the three UAE isles, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Moussa.

Also on the agenda would be current developments in the Palestinian territories, the Mideast peace process, the Iranian nuclear file, the situation in Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan, and Somalia, stated Attiyah, adding that mutual Gulf cooperation, the joint GCC market in addition to economic and environmental matters would be featured in the meeting.

The donors’ conference to support development projects and infrastructure in Yemen, held in London November 2006, would also be highlighted during the meeting, he concluded.

The GCC, founded in the early 80s in shadow of a war between Iran and Iraq, comprises Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Oman. Its establishment was intended to boost cooperation and coordination among the regional states in various sectors, including security and economy.

Yemen had been given membership in some affiliate committees of the council.
