Lima : Eight teenagers were killed and 36 injured when a bus they were travelling in plunged into a river in the southern Peruvian province of Apurimac, Spanish news agency EFE reported.
According to the authorities, the accident occurred Monday at around 4.30 a.m. when the driver of the bus with 52 people on board lost control at a turn, and the vehicle fell into a 50 metre depth ravine.
All the dead were high school students and were part of a group of about 30 students who were heading to the southern Peruvian city of Cuzco for the celebration of the end of their school year.
