Islamabad : A moderate earthquake on Sunday jolted the Pakistani capital Islamabad and northwest of the country, the metrological department said.
The quake also shook Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province, and its adjoining areas.
There was no report of casualty and damage to property.
According to metrological office, its intensity was 5 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was 350 kilometers north of Peshawar, in the Hindukush mountain range.
The tremors, felt at 04:58 p.m., created panic among the people.
Parts of northern Pakistan and its controlled Kashmir
are located in quack zone.
More than 73,000 people were killed, thousands of others injured and millions displaced in the devastating 7.6-intensity earthquake on October 08, 2005.
