Jaipur : The Justice Jasraj Chopra committee, which is looking into the Gujjar community’s demand that it be declared a Scheduled Tribe, will submit its report to the Rajasthan government by Dec 15.
“Presently the information collected from various sources is being compiled and we hope to complete this work soon,” Justice Chopra said here Monday.
The committee, set up June 12, was to submit its report Sep 12. However, in a letter to the state government sent Aug 30, the committee sought an extension until Dec 15, which the government had granted.
The Gujjar community, presently classified under the Other Backward Castes (OBC) category, held protests all over Rajasthan from May 29 to June 4 demanding its inclusion into the tribal category so as to get more employment and educational opportunities.
