Bhopal : The Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh turned the tables on the opposition by alleging that a senior Congress leader owned more than a dozen dumpers engaged at the J.P. cement factory.
Sstate Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra in a letter to Governor Balram Jhakar has alleged that senior Congress leader Ajay Singh (son of Union Human Resources and Development Minister Arjun Singh) and his relatives own more than a dozen dumpers (trucks used for construction purposes) engaged in the J.P. cement factory at Rewa and demanded a probe into how the purchases were financed.
The BJP in the state has been facing the ire of the opposition ever since the Lokayukta last month registered a first information report (FIR) against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, his wife Sadhana Singh and others for alleged corruption in purchase of four dumpers that were later hired out to the Rewa-based J.P. cement factory.
Mishra, submitting details of the dumpers owned of Congress MLA Ajay Singh and his family members, stated that one dumper is in the name of Singh himself, four were in the name of Saroj Kumari Singh, three in the name of Suman Singh, one in the name of Arunoday Singh, two in the name of Lalit Narayan Singh, and one in the name of Punam Singh – all relatives of Ajay and Arjun Singh.
“It has also been learnt that no margin money was deposited while purchasing the vehicles. How were the dumpers financed? The matter ought to be inquired either by the state Economic Offences Wing or the Lokayukta,” Mishra said in the letter.
On the other hand, Mishra stated, Sadhna Singh had purchased dumpers by depositing margin money, which was an example of moral values. He added that he would continue to expose the misdeeds of Congress leaders before the public.
The opposition has been insisting on the chief minister’s resignation, saying, “an impartial inquiry was no possible as long as Chouhan remained at the helm of affairs in the state”.
The winter session of the state assembly had to be curtailed after three days due to uproarious scenes and bedlam by the opposition, demanding chief minister’s resignation.
