Kolkata : East Bengal football club has decided to felicitate former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly who will be playing his 100th Test in Adelaide, Australia, this winter.
East Bengal was the first to recognise the arrival of a champion when they felicitated him after his first Test at Lords’ in 1996. The working committee of the club Thursday decided to felicitate Ganguly for playing his 100th Test.
“We were one of the firsts to recognise Ganguly’s prodigious talent. We want to celebrate his success after a decade of international cricket when he plays his 100th Test,” a club official said Friday.
The working committee of the club also decided that former India internationals Manoranjan Bhattacharya and Tushar Rakshit would be appointed as spotters to scout talents across the country. They will travel to different venues and see and spot football talent for themselves.
